One of the greatest gifts of yoga is that it provides us tools to return to a life of peace and simplicity in a world of growing complexity. Through regular practice we can ultimately find the freedom to be who we really are and inspire others do the same.

This retreat covers the fundamental techniques and teachings of yoga and aims to take the practices into everyday life. During the weekend we will practice asanas, explore the subtle workings of the breath, build up a pranayama breathing practice, learn about meditation, and study philosophy that integrates all of the practices into the life off the mat.

The retreat is for everyone, whatever is the level of experience.

Why retreat?

There is a huge difference between going on a holiday and going on a retreat. Even the word itself tells us that a retreat is all about stepping back, going inwards, and allowing yourself the treat of time out.

Yielding everyday commitments and distancing yourself even just for a few days from the daily grind, gives you the chance to regain a renewed and positive perspective towards life.

There’s no phone buzzing or reminders about deadlines. Also, you'll eat well without having to do all the work. Retreat is one of the easiest ways of getting back to simple, balanced and holistic way of living.

About the venue

The roots of Tuomisto manor stem from the 1500s and its unique spirit has been forged over many generations. One of the biggest cities in Finland, Tampere, is only 40 km away, to which there is easy flight, road and rail connections.

The manor went through a major transformation in 2016-2017. From being a private residence, it has become a retreat centre for the advancement of well-being, in caring hands and heart of Mikko’s long-term friend Tuuli. Manor’s soul always ensures a peaceful and uplifting experience. The benign spirit of Kalle, the resident ghost, and the zen-master Yoda the cat, also play their role in creating a magical atmosphere.
